I changed schools for sixth form (A levels) which has shown me different approaches to teaching - usually if someone does not understand the subject it is about the way it is taught.

Tutoring Experience

Having started tutoring 3 years ago through First Tutors, I have had many successes, from students passing Common Entrance exams with 90+% and GCSE students reaching and exceeding school-predicted grades whether at Foundation or Higher level.

I started tutoring while at school nine years ago, for either individuals or groups. I also have two years experience at a Day Care Centre carrying out musical activities for people of different ages with physical and mental disabilities so can handle difficult or demanding situations. I also helped to tutor the younger students at Wycombe High for two years.

Tutoring Approach

I believe if you enjoy something you are more likely to work hard at it - I think it is necessary to focus on the enjoyment of learning. I help the pupil understand areas which are important to work on to improve technique while encouraging them and focusing on their individual strengths.

I am happy to help all students in all situations, whether it be keeping up with the exam syllabus, or wanting to pushed and move beyond what is studied at school. I believe the best progress is made by practise, so questions will be given in the tutoring sessions and some work will be set for students to complete outside of the session to ensure they have understood everything covered.
