I am a very experienced teacher and tutor offering my professional skills to both children and adult learners. I have been commended by Ofsted as an 'Outstanding Teacher' and can provide evidence of these commendations along with professional references and a full CV.
I can't think of any other job that I could enjoy more than teaching! Since qualifying as a teacher in 1983 I have taught across the education spectrum: Adult Education, 16 - 18, KS3 and KS4, and children with SEN . I have supported KS1 and 2 children with specific learning difficulties and have taught children out of school with medical, behavioural and emotional difficulties.
The part of my job I enjoy most of all is working one to one with children or adults who really need some extra help and support. Building the confidence of a learner, adult or child, and seeing them begin to really grasp ideas they once found difficult and to move confidently forward is probably one of the most satisfying things you can do as a teacher.
I have a particular interest in handwriting development and studied for the National Handwriting Association Diploma at the University of London Institute of Education. I am a member of the NHA and I am registered with the NHA as a Handwriting Specialist Teacher.
I have recent experience of successfully tutoring adult student learners towards the English Equivalency Test and GESE Citizenship Examination.
My approach to tutoring is very pupil centered. Through discussion with parents and the child or adult learner it becomes clear which style of learning will be most effective and enjoyable. I am flexible in my approach to learning styles and my aim is to be as creative, imaginative and stimulating as possible whilst ensuring the learning outcome is successfully achieved.
I enjoy sourcing and producing high quality differentiated resources to support each tutees learning experience. All my tutees are provided with stationery, work packs and folders which contain progress review and target setting planners.
My tutees are also offered full and unlimited learning support by email outside the tuition session. My professional fee reflects my commitment to this additional support, and all my students encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity. All communications with my tutees are copied to parents.
I have a proven record of excellent results, with the all of my 'one-to-one' students achieving C (Level 5) and above grades at GCSE. A high number of my students achieve A and A* grades (Levels 8 & 9).
I am willing to travel within a 5 mile radius of Market Drayton town centre and travel time and costs are included in my hourly rate.
** Please note: As from September 2017 I will only be accepting new students for tuition who are in Years 10 and 11**
I am Enhanced DBS checked (Formerly known as CRB ) through my School employer.
Please be assured that certificate evidence of all my professional qualifications has been submitted to and checked by 'First Tutors'. Please do take time to read through my feedback below. Please also be assured that feedback on this website can only be left by parents and tutees who have registered with the site and have purchased and used the services of a 'First Tutors' teacher.

She has an approachable yet firm manner, is friendly and encouraging.
It was important to both my son and I that he was able to ‘gel’ with his tutor - I can honestly say it happened on the first visit!
Since then my Son has done some mock exams and the improvement has been to go up a level not only in English, but also Science & Art the surprising bonus!
He has taken on board what Ceri is showing him and his confidence has grown, where he just didn’t understand he now sees and it’s fantastic to see.
He has been set back by illness but is looking forward to his next session.
As a parent it is never a problem to get him to Ceri’s tutor sessions even though it’s an hour drive each way and a very intensive hour one on one tutoring - he can plainly see the benefits.
He is hoping to be able to go up another level in time for his GCSEs this May.
Ceri is caring and approachable, whilst being professional and well organised. Her sessions are well planned and structured but flexible enough to meet my son's individual needs. She has endless enthusiasm and resources and is more than willing to share this, whether through working with my son, providing the necessary literature, feed back on his progress or being available by phone or email to help with any of his difficulties.
My children have had a couple of tutors before, but Ceri stands out above the rest. She obviously has a special way of teaching that my son understands and I am hoping that she will be able to tutor my daughter through to her GCSE's.
I just want to say a huge thank you to Ceri.
I really struggled to focus in school when I was younger. Trying to pick up English GCSE again at 27 was daunting. She made it interesting and enjoyable. I can only hope to find a tutor or lecturer with her passion in my future endeavours!
Thoroughly enjoyed my English lessons with Ceri, which is saying something as I'd never enjoyed English before.
Ceri adapted the right style to suit my learning and structured a fantastic 3 week plan for me in order to get me prepared for the exam.
I felt extremely comfortable learning around Ceri, who was very knowledgeable, encouraging and supportive.
I was amazed with all interventions I was given. I've definitely picked up a lot of new writing and reading techniques which will stay with me for life.
Thanks again Ceri for all the help, support and encouragement. I would not have got through those tough 3 weeks without you.
I Would recommend Ceri to anyone.

Ceri has made my daughter feel very welcome and is designing a programme tailored to her current needs, backed up by a useful range of resources to support her learning and make it stimulating and fun.
An efficient, approachable and lovely lady - my son thoroughly enjoys his lessons!
