I am a qualified English language and literature teacher with 30 years of experience in classroom teaching in higher education, secondary schools and private tutoring. I enjoy teaching and adapt my materials and methodology to meet the learners' needs and interests. I examine GCSE and IGCSE English Language and English Literature for three different examination boards and I have an excellent track record of helping students improve on their predicted grades. I have also tutored students preparing for English Literature and Language A’ levels. Having lived in Italy for a considerable number of years, I am a fluent and accurate speaker of Italian.

Tutoring Experience

I have a PGCE in secondary English, a B.A. in English Literature, an M.A. in Applied Linguistics and I have taught most aspects of the English language e.g. grammar, vocabulary, writing, text analysis, pronunciation, to speakers of other languages at universities in the UK and Italy. I prepare students for IELTS, Cambridge English exams, GCSEs and A’ levels and I have taught Business English in several companies abroad.

Tutoring Approach

I have always been appreciated by my students for being helpful, friendly and encouraging. I love teaching and believe that my enthusiasm is transmitted to my students. I believe that it is important to have a sound knowledge of your subject, but also to motivate learners and to help them become creative, analytical and independent.
