I am a fun, outgoing private tutor based in Barton Under Needwood. I have taught in and around the Midlands since 2006 from Solihull to Derby and have worked in a wide variety of schools from Special Needs, to small countryside schools to large three-form-entry inner city schools and have always enjoyed Private Tuition alongside my teaching.

I have a number of very satisfied clients (both from this website and by word-of-mouth referral), as you can see from my feedback. Many of them are happy to be contacted to provide personal recommendations by phone or email also.

Please note, l have to charge for my travel expenses on top of the cost of the lesson.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a full time tutor for around ten years, the areas that I have been most successful in have been tutoring maths, literacy, reading skills, and also helping children "swot up" for their SATs and Common Entrance Exams. I currently have a 100% record for helping children gain entry to selective entry (Grammar and Private) schools.
I also offer English language lessons to both child and adult learners who wish to improve their speaking, reading or writing skills.

Tutoring Approach

I believe fun and enjoyment are the best ways to learn anything, I have found that by making the lessons as interactive and interesting as possible, I get very good results.
All of the children I have worked with have made significant improvement in their academic work and also in their attitude to learning.
An example of this is where I was approached to tutor a Year 4 child who was significantly behind National Expectations in her reading and literacy. After just 5 months working together, she had made huge progress and is now working at a level two years ahead of expectations and has found a new enjoyment in her learning.
I enjoy working with adult learners too, be it to help with learning English as a foreign language, or to teach them some of the more modern ways of 'doing' maths, so they can give their own children help with their homework.
