English (Foreign Language)
I'm a fully qualified and experienced EFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) teacher. I teach individuals and small groups - both adults and children - privately at my home in Sale. I teach beginners, intermediate and advanced levels.
I also teach ESOL on the Talk English community project in Manchester and have taught English to adults from all over the world,
I'm a BA Honours graduate in Modern Languages (French and German) and I speak both languages fluently, having lived and worked for several years in both countries. My international experience has given me a solid appreciation of other cultures and languages and the ability to connect with people from all over the world.
I also have a professional language qualification (Institute of Linguists Final Diploma) and speak some Italian.
Before embarking on my teaching career, I held a number of senior marketing and communications roles both overseas and in the UK. I am a highly experienced writer, editor and proofreader.
I decided to take up teaching English as a second career because I am passionate about languages, and believe the skills I have gained working with different people in the UK and overseas give me the ideal background required to help students at all levels achieve their goals.
I also offer a proofreading service for dissertations and theses. Please contact me to discuss your requirements.
I currently work as an English language tutor - teaching children and adults from overseas who are studying or working in the UK. I also teach ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to groups of adults in a community project in Manchester.
I'm experienced in teaching people with little or no knowledge of English who need to master the basic skills, as well as those who've already learned some English in their native country and now want to improve their knowledge.
I teach Beginners, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced levels.
During my professional career I have mentored colleagues both in the UK and overseas, helping them to develop their English language skills.
I'm friendly, approachable and patient, with excellent communication skills and the ability to get on well with people of all ages, abilities and nationalities.
I aim to make my classes as interactive as possible, combining vocabulary and grammar with activities such as role play and games. It's important to make learning a language fun too!
If you decide to take classes with me, I will make sure I have a clear understanding of your needs and objectives and will review progress and give feedback on an ongoing basis. It's my aim to help you achieve your personal goals and to enjoy learning with me in the process.
I love my job, and find it personally very rewarding to see a student progress and learn to speak and write English with confidence.
