Personal Description:

Approximately 30 years experience in education. I was a principal/co-ordinator of a small private college, but I found teaching so much more rewarding; I have studied widely in education, sport and health. The last course, I did for a weekend hobby over many years was a degree in Chinese Medicine at Toulouse University. Unfortunately, flight costs became prohibitively expensive. They had been as low as £10 a flight. These days, I love teaching others to pass courses and concentrating more on my family.

All year I am the disposition of the families that employ me to teach their children except the summer holiday. By July, I expect students to be already ready for the next academic year or their entrance exams. Normally, I teach students during all other holidays, if the student needs more intense help. Please feel free to contact me by email, yet be aware that I will not be available to work until the 7th September, 2016.

Tutoring Experience:

Special needs. Deaf Teacher. Head of Deaf Unit. SENCO supply. French, Psychology, English and Maths to A'level. I have worked for the last 5 years mainly in primary. This has enabled me to build up resources, and focus my time on the ever changing needs of the curriculum. I do all the home study assignments with the student plus spelling techniques. If a student is taking the 11+ realistically, the student needs two 2 hour sessions a week: one for school work and one for the 11+… As I have many qualifications I have only included the most relevant ones pertaining to teaching. Education is a wonderful bug to catch.

Tutoring Approach:

Due to my wide experience of international teaching techniques I have many methods to hand. I have had a lot of success improving students grades, enthusing them to learn, and often taking them out of special needs classes into mainstream ones. I started to teach special needs in a central London college. I offered to do it all for free, but was happy to get paid from day one. It was a wonderfully happy job opportunity that I thoroughly enjoyed for five years. After this I started my family and ran a small independent college for special needs for five years. Later, I went to France to work in the state education system teaching primary school children for 8 years. I am English, but speak French and British Sign Language fluently as these are also the languages I have grown up communicating in.

When I came back to England I spent four memorable years as a supply SENCO, teacher of the Deaf and teacher of mainstream primary and secondary students. Due to family commitments, I went self-employed about 6 years ago and started to teach privately. The students which I have been teaching are now moving on to secondary education. Hopefully, I will get 6 new students to work with from this ad. I am not looking for too much work, as I then cannot enjoy teaching the students. Private tuition is my sole income. I take my teaching commitments seriously, yet I make my lessons as enjoyable an experience as I can. Learning through laughter to instil confidence and enthuse students to learn is my approach.

For the reasons above I do not believe in teaching online to students under 16 years of age. Teaching has to be done sensitively and intuitively. I don't think this can always be achieved when teaching via a diverse range of conferencing tools, of which I tested when they first came on to the market…
