Immensely fond of teaching to impart, expand existing knowledge and to enthuse students. Time is fleeting, if used wisely the hours, weeks, months and years spent with a private tutor will make a student's academic life much more rewarding, in so many ways.
Approximately 35 years' experience in education. I was a principal/coordinator of a small private college, but I found teaching so much more rewarding after my first child.
Bookings for two - three hour lessons are preferred. Happy to teach for four hours, if teaching two siblings. Intense lessons for five - six hours are only possible during school holidays. For students below the age of seven years old, I only teach for one hour due to their attention span.
Teaching online is always possible for my existing local students, whom I teach in person. I prefer to know my students and their families in person to have a friendly rapport. Fortunately, most of my work is spent teaching generations of children in the same families for three to five years. Then, I sometimes get a message years later for help with an old student to help her/him stay on track to get to university.
This is a great site, which is run professionally. I work for many parents, who have contacted me from here. I never work for agencies. I am registered self-employed. This is my full-time employment.
Education management. Primary, secondary and further education teaching. Head of Deaf Unit. Head of IT. SENCO supply in secondary schools. French and Psychology to A' level. I have worked for the last 10 years mainly in primary. schools or teaching after school.
In my experience private tuition can help students: get into the top set; out of special measures or just catch-up in one subject or several.
My approach to teaching students is to teach them. When, I am engaged for one hour or more, that time is for the student. I arrive on time, and I leave on time. Equally, I encourage students to start on time, be immersed in the lessons and finish exactly on time. In this way, a friendly, respectful, professional exchange is kept to between the student/s, tutor and parent/s. I have other work to go to after the lesson or lessons have finished. The students are grateful to get on with whatever they have to do, and parents are happy to wave goodbye to me at the end of a long day for them.
Of course, if a parent is on the premises, we can have a brief discourse by ending the lesson fifteen minutes early. Most parents trust me to do the work, they pay me to do, Plus, they must get on with their own work. Students themselves and their schoolteachers normally supply positive feedback to parents, as the students improve their scores in exams or by passing entrance exams to top private schools, such as, Westminster, City of London etc.
