I love my job. My rapport with my students and parents is very important. I thrive on working out what makes my students tick and using their strengths and interests to broaden their skills.
I enjoy helping students to improve planning and structure. We look at examples and styles, past papers and learn strategies.
All resources from all the exam boards are provided… TUTORING AREAS:
Tend to be in areas surrounding Chellaston, Alvaston, Stenson, Borrowash, Shardlow, Castle Donnington, Melbourne, Spondon, Oakwood- but please ask.
If you live further out and can take the student to me, finding a space is much easier and quicker.
A lot of my parents wait for their child at my home- I have separate offices and I have a room with lovely views when you can relax… or work in! Some parents go off for a run.
I have a lot of recommended by schools in the area and by plenty of past parents and students too (please see feedback at the bottom of my page) and on this site
I am a happy, friendly and bubbly person. I make my lessons interesting and interactive. I give excellent feedback to parents too. Pupils take to me because I understand them and I can see how best to help them to learn.
I have 2 beautiful children of my own, now teenagers and I have been helping them to achieve their own academic goals.
Some of my pupils I have taught since they were in early Primary, they are now working on their A levels or are at University.
I am very proud of my pupils, they are a joy to teach and I have an excellent relationship with each and every one of them and their parents… This site collects a fee when you try to give your personal or contact details to me .
I am a Qualified Teacher and have worked in various roles, and in lots of schools across different Key Stages and levels.
I have worked with children in all years from pre-school to GCSE levelh aving worked in a learning centre for GCSE level students . There is a a high level of demand for help across the ages groups, but particularly at SAT'S level.
I am an expert in exam techniqe, which I feel is not taught enough in school. For me, raising confidence in children is the key to success.
I have worked with families too, helping parents to understand how best to help their children, as it can be worrying when children start to struggle at school and parents need answers. I help parents to support their children outside my lessons by explaining current teaching methods to them- and how best to help.
Exams. I am familiar with international GCSE exams, prep for Visa applications and ESOL speaking tests.
I assess students to pinpoint their needs and work with them and their parents to develop strategies.
By tailoring my lessons to the child, I can make them feel comfortable and inspired.
Some of my students I have taught for a long time and I work with the school to help to concentrate on certain areas to help in the best way possible.
Below is a reference from one of my students ( Simran) aged 19- with her permission.
I struggled enormously with my Maths and English, however, with the guidance of Ann-Marie I soon caught up.
Ann-Marie has helped me with my English and Maths, since I was 6 years old. After 10 years, I was the longest student she'd had.
"I have just finished my GCSE's and I have got onto my chosen course- to be a social worker… I would recommend Ann-Marie to any one who wants to improve and do well in Maths and English".
I am so proud of Simran- what a wonderful young lady. And I already have an invite to an important event for her in the future… her wedding.!!

We think Ann-Marie is great!
I am so pleased that Olivia enjoys our lessons.
She certainly felt inspired after that English essay we did where her marks increased significantly.
A competitive streak is fab.!
I really enjoy our lessons and I know that she does too.
What a lovely girl and conscientious student she is.
I very much enjoyed tutoring George and wish him every success in the future, he will be an asset to any potential employer.
And thanks very much for the chocolates .
I would have no hesitation in recommending Ann-Marie as a tutor and will certainly use her in the future with my younger daughter.
I enjoyed helping Ellie to think more deeply about the material and to plan her work to cover the criteria in-depth.
Thanks for the offer of more work in the future, I will be pleased to help Harriet too.
Regards, Sharon Simms & Lucy (age 10)
Rea is a pleasure to teach.
