Hello… I teach English at Primary and Secondary level plus Maths at Primary level.
I have students at all ages and I love my job. My rapport with my students and parents is very important. I thrive on working out what makes my students tick and using their strengths and interests to broaden their skills.
Update on availability in December 2016 - I have daytime spaces or every other Saturday spaces now available.
I can also offer holiday lessons which is a group setting for £15 per student based on lessons over 3 days as a booster class.
Having worked in schools for many years, I am well used to how the National Curriculum is taught in schools and how it has recently changed. I use up to date teaching materials. I have students who are gaining confidence in areas we have targeted in Maths and English ready for their SAT's in 2017.
I enjoy exam preparation and looking at the English Language and Literature tests to improve pupils attainment levels.
Then we can see whether it is planning and structure that needs help, we can look at examples and styles.
All resources from all the exam boards are provided.
ADULTS LEARNING/ ESOL
I have had a large number of adult learners, helping them to gain GCSE grades.
Improving results, increasing confidence .
Tend to be in areas surrounding Chellaston, Alvaston, Stenson, Borrowash, Shardlow, Castle Donnington, Melbourne, Spondon, Oakwood- but please ask.
If you live further out and can take the student to me, finding a space is much easier and quicker.
A lot of my parents wait for their child at my home and I have a room with lovely views when you can relax… or work in! Some parents go off for a run.
I have a lot of recommended by schools in the area and by plenty of past parents and students too (please see feedback at the bottom of my page) and on this site.
I am a happy, friendly and bubbly person. I make my lessons interesting and interactive. I give excellent feedback to parents too. Pupils take to me because I understand them and I can see how best to help them to learn.
I have 2 beautiful children of my own, now teenagers and I have been helping them to achieve their own academic goals.
Some of my pupils I have taught since they were in early Primary, they are now working on their A levels or are at University.
I am very proud of my pupils, they are a joy to teach and I have an excellent relationship with each and every one of them and their parents… BOOKINGS INFORMATION
Please note that I will be able to cover my lesson with another tutor if I am unable to teach due to illness.

I have Qualified Teacher Status and have worked in various roles, and in lots of schools across different Key Stages and levels.
I have worked with children in all years from pre-school to GCSE level having worked in a learning centre for GCSE level students . There is a a high level of demand for help across the ages groups, but particularly at SAT'S level.
I am an expert in exam techniqe, which I feel is not taught enough in school. For me, raising confidence in children is the key to success.
I have worked with families too, helping parents to understand how best to help their children, as it can be worrying when children start to struggle at school and parents need answers. I help parents to support their children outside my lessons by explaining current teaching methods to them- and how best to help.
If your child has special needs I have the experience to help and have had a lot of students with Autism, ADHD and a vast array of other learning difficulties. One of my own children has an ASD.
I assess students to pinpoint their needs and work with them and their parents to develop strategies.
By tailoring my lessons to the child, I can make them feel comfortable and inspired.
Some of my students I have taught for a long time and I work with the school to help to concentrate on certain areas to help in the best way possible.
Below is a reference from one of my students ( Simran) aged 16- with her permission.
I struggled enormously with my Maths and English, however, with the guidance of Ann-Marie I soon caught up.
Ann-Marie has helped me with my English and Maths, since I was 6 years old. After 10 years, I was the longest student she'd had.
"I have just finished my GCSE's and I have got onto my chosen course- to be a social worker… I would recommend Ann-Marie to any one who wants to improve and do well in Maths and English".
I am so proud of Simran- what a wonderful young lady. And I already have an invite to an important event for her in the future… her wedding.!!
