I am a 34 year-old female who has worked in both school and private household environments as a tutor and governess, both in the UK and abroad (as a teacher in a bilingual kindergarten and private tutor in Moscow, as a governess in Kazakhstan, and as a home-school tutor during the pandemic in Abu Dhabi, with a severely dyslexic 8 year-old girl). Since returning from living abroad, I have worked as a nanny/tutor across south and central London.

I am now living in Wimbledon and have Sunday availability. In recent years, I have been focusing more on working with young learners (aged from 3-10), although I am happy to consider working with older children again!

Having worked across various households and also as a nanny, I am approachable, responsible and flexible towards the needs of each individual student. I am qualified to teach English as a second language, and have also completed an accredited course, led by the British Dyslexia Association, on adapting learning to suit those who may require additional help. I am currently enrolled in a course on working with autistic learners and plan to further study working with students affected by ADHD and childhood mental health issues.

Tutoring Experience

I have a wide variety of experience with different ages and abilities, and have often been told I am fantastic at working with children.

London, UK
I have extensive experience working with families as both a nanny and tutor. One of my most notable roles was preparing a 4-year-old boy for entrance into a prestigious London school during the early stages of the pandemic. His nursery provided basic online resources, which I supplemented with my own engaging, play-based lessons to maintain a high educational standard. For example, we used hula hoops and garden stones for maths, and shaving foam with food colouring for early science experiments.
Currently, I manage a regular roster of students every Sunday. This includes three pupils preparing for 11+ exams, one requiring dyslexia support, and another with ADHD.

Glasgow, UK
I have been widely commended for my ability to work effectively with young people. I have tutored students across a wide range of levels, primarily focusing on GCSE learners. Under my guidance, all of my students progressed from No Award or C grades in their prelims to achieving A or B grades in their final exams. I have also worked with three A-Level students, helping one improve from a No Award to a B grade, and the others from B to A grades.

Moscow, Russia
I worked as an English teacher in a privately run bilingual kindergarten with children aged 2–4, and ran a summer camp for children aged 4–7. Additionally, I provided private ad-hoc tutoring for four separate families throughout the city.

Astana, Kazakhstan
I served as a live-in governess, teaching English to a young beginner-level learner.

Abu Dhabi, UAE
During the global pandemic, I worked as a governess for an 8-year-old child from a high-net-worth Emirati family. With schools closed and the child facing severe dyslexia, I collaborated with her mother to develop alternative educational strategies. We used creative methods, such as project-based learning and video submissions, to reduce reliance on traditional reading and writing. Where that wasn’t possible, I incorporated dyslexia-specific tools and a high degree of empathy to support her learning.

Tutoring Approach

I believe a creative and relaxed approach to tutoring is best. I will be able and willing to tailor tutoring needs to the wishes or each individual and their parents.
