##### Congratulations to all the A Level students I taught this year. The grades achieved by you all exceeded the mock results between 4 and 6 levels. That is a U grade to an A! #####
I am a qualified teacher with over 12 years experience teaching maths and physics.
I expect my tutees to achieve at least one grade beyond their target at GCSE and A-Level and I regularly assist students who have struggled with the GCSE to A-Level transition improving grades by 5 levels.
I have a track record of successfully preparing students for Oxbridge and Russell group universities.
I am fully qualified and experienced teacher having a 1st Class Degree, Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Qualified teacher status (QTS), Enhanced DBS(CRB)* and have experience in both traditional and training schools in the Independent and state sectors. I also work with local authorities to support their Virtual Learning initiatives, tutoring students out of the classroom environment. I work with all abilities from 11yrs to 18yrs and have been successfully tutoring for many years.
*CRB is now known as a DBS - A Criminal Record Check at Enhanced Disclosure level, often referred to as a Enhanced DBS, is the highest level required for positions that can involve caring for, training, supervising or being in sole charge of children or vulnerable adults.
I follow a coaching approach, working at the speed of the individual, addressing weaknesses and increasing confidence and ability.
I specialise in helping students prepare for their Mock and Public examinations. Working through examples of the core questions and developing the lesson to ensure they understand the topic while focusing on exam techniques.
Once a student is registered with me I am able to offer online tuition.
I use a pen-enabled laptop and document camera to provide real time display of questions, answers and explanations to deliver an effective tutoring session.
To take advantage of this technology a student needs a computer with connected microphone and an internet connection. There is no requirement for a video connection from the student to the tutor.
This approach is proving popular with many students – Online lessons allow me to offer shorter sessions more frequently and at a reduced rate.
Some other references from online tuition:
James studying A level maths: “James says he really enjoyed your lessons prior to his C3 mock. He has requested more time over Easter and during his study leave. He would like quite a lot of lessons, so I hope this is ok? Best wishes J.”
Charlotte AS maths: “I was initially a little nervous about the online lessons but being able to book several one hour sessions spread throughout the week proved to be really helpful. I am so pleased with my result, thank-you.”

He is also very punctual.
As a high achiever she found the A level physics first year a challenge, not completely grasping some of the concepts and the more mathematical aspects of the subject. At the end of the year her mock result was nowhere close to what she was capable of.
She worked with Andrew over the summer holiday and he quickly improved her understanding and explained things in a way that she felt made sense. When she resat the mock she achieved a massive 4 grades improvement!
I can't thank him enough! He restored my daughter's faith in her own ability and has meant she is able to apply to the Russell Group universities she had set her heart on.
I can recommend Andrew as a fabulous teacher who will help with understanding concepts and learning the right way to approach answering exam questions.
