With a 2:1 degree in Economics from Reading (2009) I have been tutoring for over 10 years now. Having started with just one student I have gone on to teach over 50 students (from multiple websites) across the Reading, Wokingham and Maidenhead areas.
Unlike other tutors I only specialise in the subject I am qualified in and so only offer Economics tuition, meaning I'm up to date with the latest areas and syllabus requirements. I have taught students across Edexcel, OCR & AQA and had very good success with my students as my feedback shows.
Students come to me with different needs that range from:
- Wanting to gain those extra few marks to reach a top grade
- Struggling with the basic concepts and needing intensive support
- Generally a good understanding but wanting to brush up on a few areas
- Understanding the topics but struggling with exam technique
- Lacking confidence or facing exam re-sits
Whatever the goal I've never met someone I've not been able to help improve.
I believe it is Important to get to know the student first and build a rapport.
Lessons are guided by the student and can cover which ever topics they need help on. The lessons are not like school where there is a fixed agenda, we can jump about and cover any topic and as exams get closer past papers are a valuable area to focus on. I am flexible on times and can always fit in a last minute lesson.
I try to avoid a teacher-student relationship but instead encourage students to think of me as a peer so they are comfortable asking whatever questions they have.
