Andrew

I am a chemistry teacher at a top private college in Kensington. Prior to teaching I was a postdoctoral researcher at a world leading research University. I have three children, a 14 yr old girl, an 11 yr old boy and an 3 yr old little girl. I hugely enjoy helping students understand the subject that I love and have been told that I am very good at explaining complex scientific principles in a way that is easy and fun to understand.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching at secondary level for 3 years, teaching science at key stage 3, chemistry, biology and physics at GCSE and Chemistry at A level. Before I entered the teaching profession I had been tutoring A-level (EDEXCEL and AQA) and degree level chemistry for 4 years since finishing my PhD. During my research career I also provided tuition and practical demonstration work to undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is focused on enabling students to achieve their potential, providing experrt advice on revision techniques as well as helping students understand the key concepts that are covered by each exam board. I am easy going, patient and determined to provide the best tuition I can.If I feel that my usual approach to explaining a particular concept is not working then I will try to explain it from a different angle until the topic is clearly understood. I am particularly adept at preparing students for exams.
