I graduated from King's College London in 2017 with a 2:1 BSc Mathematics. Following this, I completed a Masters in Medical Statistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and I am now working as a Research Fellow at Imperial College London.

I initially entered the tutoring field by working with Kumon UK, a tuition program which aims to develop independent learning skills and increased self-confidence. Here, I was able to gain experience with students of all ages from 5-18 years.
It was then that a friend asked me to cover her private tutoring whilst she went travelling. I felt that these intimate one-on-one sessions showed drastic improvements in the students very quickly.
Having now had 5+ years of tutoring experience and over 15+ GCSE and A-Level students, I'm fully comfortable in approaching any challenges.
My role as a tutor varies according to the tutee and what works best for them. It's important that both parties feel enriched by the end of each session in order to achieve a happy and constructive atmosphere.
In the past, I have noticed that many students lack confidence in their ability to answer questions, especially under a timed condition. Often, by pushing students to answer questions, we see that their mathematical instinct can often be correct, which will hopefully lead them to a more confident independent attitude to learning.
It is vital that the student studies at the most appropriate pace tailored for their needs, and with GCSE's and A-Levels still fresh in my mind, I feel that I can provide more empathy when it comes to crossing difficult bridges.
I focus on finding gaps in the student's knowledge and then tailor questions with the aim to improve these areas before moving onto more difficult topics. In order more this method to work, it is important that the student has prepared questions for me throughout the week beforehand. This means that the time we spend together will be efficient and constructive, as well as encouraging the student to work independently before we meet.
