Private Maths and Physics Tutor in Oxford

Hi, I'm Ana! I am originally from London but moved to Oxford last year.

I studied Mechanical Engineering at University College London and I graduated with First Class Honours, at the top of my class. I currently work as a Data Scientist and have 3 years of experience in the motorsport and publishing industries.

I also undertook music at a high level, having achieved diploma level in Cello and Grade 8 music theory, I spent a year at the Royal Academy of Music before starting my engineering degree.

I am a friendly person who goes above and beyond, in my spare time I enjoy ice skating and reading.

I tutor because I'd like to inspire the next generation of Engineers and Data experts. I also am keen to make a difference for those that need help in certain topic areas and believe its never too late to refine your maths and physics skills!

Tutoring Experience

I have a breath of tutoring experience across multiple subject areas, from maths and entrance exams to music theory and giving instrumental lessons. I have experience teaching students both in person and online across all age ranges. I tailor my tutoring approach depending on the student age and method of class delivery. Please note my current teaching preference is online - I have greater flexibility

I have prepared students for university admissions exams (including the Cambridge ENGAA) and helped with coursework projects alongside more traditional tutoring.

While studying Engineering, I have been exposed to many different methods of teaching - and aim to find the method best suited to each individual tutee. I also spent time teaching studying skills to best equip students with the best tools for them to succeed in the preparations for their exams.

I also hold an Enhanced DBS check

Tutoring Approach

I tailor all lessons to the individual tutee as everyone learn in different ways, and I base the method of lesson delivery on the first few sessions where I begin to understand how each student prefers to learn. My teaching style is interactive, where I go through worked examples alongside getting the students to try things for themselves, enabling students to develop confidence when tackling new problems.

I spend time with students going through past papers and exam style questions to help them learn the best exam technique. I have found it is definitely one step to learn the subject matter but good exam technique and layout of answers can improve performance even more! In the case of entrance exams where questions can vary drastically, I spend time teaching students the mindset to approach questions.
