I am a tutor with 10 years experience. I have recently completed a MPhil Education and Psychology degree at the University of Cambridge achieving a first class. Previously I have lived in Utrecht where I completed a MSc in Science and Business, and before I completed a BSc Biochemistry at the University of Bristol. I enjoy learning new things and sharing my knowledge to empower children. I implement confidence coaching, critical thinking, positive mindsets, and motivation to show them how they can reach their potential.
I am interested in Positive Psychology, the Wellbeing of Children and Adolescents, Philosophy for Children and Alternative Education.
I am here to support you and offer:
I have been tutoring from a young age where I enjoyed supporting my younger sisters through their exams. At university I continued to be a tutor in Mathematics and Science for students in high school. I worked for the Welcome Trust and taught A level students biochemical reactions at university level to encourage them to apply for Science subjects and give them an insight into the life of a biochemist.
I am also interested in neurodiversity with a keen interest in dyslexia and special educational needs. I am experienced in dyslexia for those who would like special support.
I am a hardworking and motivated tutor where I have seen students make excellent progress. Personally, the greatest reward in this job is seeing students become happy and confident.
I believe that, if approached in the right way, students are able to enjoy studying their desired subjects. I use an enthusiastic and encouraging approach to teaching and I encourage students to ask questions and challenge concepts. I take a different approach to learning using "thinking out-side-the-box" style exercises and using enquiry to develop children's cognitive thinking and reasoning abilities and to empower them to make better decisions.
By asking questions to my tutees and allowing them to complete exercises with me, I am able to assess how well they are progressing and in what subject areas they may need more help. My previous teaching experience has made me very patient, and I enjoy providing tailored methods to suit the abilities and level of each student.
I am extremely well trained in exam practice and I can offer a lot of advice about learning strategies, coping with exam pressure and how to best complete an exam paper and tackle challenging exam questions.
I enjoy seeing students feel valued and appreciate that their educational and mental wellbeing needs are being met. This positive state will help to empower children to do their best and reach their academic goals.
