Hi there, I'm Amelia, a doctoral candidate who has lectured at the University of Liverpool, created courses for Continuing Education (in partnership with Liverpool Uni) and developed, led and taught on a scheme in a Bedfordshire secondary school which focused on supporting and improving the grades of lower-achieving students from difficult backgrounds. I have also given lessons privately for 10 years alongside my other teaching roles.
I have a proven track record of success, in many cases helping students to improve by 2 grades simply by listening, identifying obstacles and working with students to overcome the areas holding them back.
Each student with whom I work discovers a previously unrealised capability with English Literature and Language.
10 years' tutoring, teaching & lecturing experience from GCSE to Masters level
Conduct private lessons both online and in person
Experience teaching in a secondary school
Experience lecturing in a university
Have worked with students with dyslexia and dyspraxia
I work with students on coursework preparation and the re-drafting process, exam preparation, revision skills, textual analysis (inc. poetry) and creative writing.
Tutoring differs from in-class teaching in that it offers students the chance to utilize the complete focus of an expert in their field. When I work with a student I cater solely to their needs and can pick out issues that may otherwise have gone unnoticed. I then work with the student to resolve any issues and help to uncover a genuine interest in, and confidence with, the subject along the way.
Please note: In order to keep things running smoothly, I have a 24 hour cancellation policy. Thanks!
*** At this time I am only offering online lessons ***
