Amie

Amie is doing a great job with our 15 year old dyspraxic son. He dislikes reading because he finds it so difficult. However Amie has been able to get him engaged in Macbeth, poetry and a wealth of other written material.

Amie is very patient, encouraging and supportive - our son always comes away from the online tutoring sessions feeling positive about what he can achieve. This is such a relief when we compare it to how he feels after some of his school lessons.

Amie is always very prepared for the sessions, but also very quick to adapt to whatever has been going on in school lessons. That way the learning he's doing at school is embedded by either pre-work with Amie (critical for Macbeth!), or follow up work with Amie.

It's going really well, we feel much more confident that our son is going to pass his GCSE.

Amie gave one session here. She was prompt, professional and well-prepared to teach the AQA GCSE (English and English Lit). She has a gentle manner, but she draws ideas from the student and then makes suggestions in such a way that they appear to be the student's ideas. Her teaching style is to praise and encourage the student, and never to criticise. The fifteen year old in question, who has problems, was very motivated afterwards, saying that he'd never been good at anything before!

Unfortunately, Amie felt that the journey here was too time-consuming and, in fairness, 40 mins each way for a one hour session is unrealistic.

In short, Amie is a fabulous teacher, especially for a child who lacks confidence and motivation. I would have no hesitation in recommending her.

Amie contacted me in a timely way and has been patient around my son's health which has meant he had to cancel first two sessions. Seemed to enjoy his first lesson last week
