This is how 2 referees rated Amanda:
My husband and I live just outside Heckmondwike… We run a very successful tutoring business, specialising in the Heckmondwike Entrance Exam (and more recently adult basic skills education)With regards to Heckmondwike we have a very high (almost 100%) pass rate. We did pride ourselves on knowing the test 'inside out' but now are teaching to the new format. We each have our own individual specialist areas - Mark, for instance is expert at teaching the Non Verbal Reasoning skills including the new 3d format. We offer an extremely professional service, with an initial assessment of your child, followed with a individual tailored program of work. We believe honesty at this stage is the best policy and will discuss what we believe are your child's chances of success are and how much or little work is going to be required. Following this assessment there are a variety of options available to you. We offer individual, group and holiday full day sessions, alongside structured homework, or alternatively we offer parent and child coaching sessions of two hours, where we will highlight the main areas that need to be covered and you will be given a huge range of resources (including commercially available packages) for your child to work through. (This is an excellent option for those a little further away or for those of you with self motivated children) There is a one off price for the resources and two hour coaching session of £100. (The materials themselves are worth at least 4 times that amount)
I have a BEd in English and have been teaching for 18 years, the majority of the time spent in year 6, I currently teach year 6 in Birstall. I have been tutoring for the Heckmondwike grammar school test for the past 10 years, and we have been running our business as an extremely successful partnership for the last 6. CRB certificates and qualifications and references are available to view.
We adopt a relaxed but enthusiastic approach and believe all of our both past and present would agree that they have enjoyed their sessions with us.
UPDATE - From Easter 2015 we will be offering fortnightly Mock exams for the Heckmondwike entrance exam. This will include sitting new and updated papers under timed conditions. The papers will be marked and assessed with optional follow up materials in weaker areas, which will be sent home to be completed before the next session. Each session will take place on a Sunday and will last for 4 hours - this will include a lunch break. The cost will be £20 per child per session. There will be 15 of these 'mock' entrance exams before the 2014 test . There will be 40 places available each session and you can sign up for one or more. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Mandy's enthusiasm is tremendous and she has a great 'can do' attitude.
I find Amanda professional, reassuring and enthusistic, and both Evie and I look forward to her weekly sessions.
