I am a fully qualified, excellent Spanish native speaker and teacher with seventeen years of experience teaching KS4 and KS5 through to university level Spanish including GCSE, A-level, IB, and Advanced Placement as well as casual adult learners.
Being a GCSE Speaking Spanish Examiner helps me to know with precision what my students need to learn with view to achieve good grades in their exams. I was also nominated and selected to examine GCE A Level Spanish.
Having dynamism, warmth, dedication and commitment makes me an ideal teacher/tutor who strives to inspire students to be motivated learners as well as to achieve excellent results in Spanish. My passion for the language and culture as well as to see young people thrive and achieve their full potential helps greatly.
For sixteen years I have taught in a wide range of schools, independent and state, as well as at higher education level, including at Warwick University. I have been Head of Spanish and have an excellent knowledge of a range of exam boards.
My teaching is student-centred, aimed to meet the needs of each individual learner, and uses techniques that work and achieve results. I vary my activities in order to suit a variety of learning needs and styles.
I am a nurturing, dedicated tutor and I meet the individual learning needs of each student.
My first step is to assess the student's level and to establish clearly what they want to accomplish and what is required to achieve their aims. I then work with the student to fill gaps in their knowledge, improve areas of weakness and stretch them to achieve their full potential.

Alicia and I would have whole conversations in Spanish, which enabled me to improve my listening and speaking skills greatly and get used to speaking Spanish within a conversation, which I struggled greatly in doing. If you don't understand something, she will speak slower and in sections, translating each section into English, which was useful for topics which used unfamiliar language and complex sentence structures. I was able to learn a lot of useful phrases to use in conversation which I may not have ended up learning in a classroom setting.
Overall, I would strongly recommend Alicia as a Spanish tutor for an adult/casual learner, like myself, but also for any students doing GCSE and A-Level.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comments! You are a fine young lady whom I have had the pleasure to teach during the Summer. Your responsibility and dedication are admirable. I am so glad that you have progressed greatly and feel much more confident speaking in Spanish.
My warmest wishes on your return to University
