Hello! I'm Alice - new to First Tutors but I'm a highly experienced tutor AND classroom teacher. My university degree was Engineering so I teach/tutor both Maths and Physics.

I'm delighted and proud to say that in this year's exams (2023) all of my tutor students either gained or exceeded their desired GCSE, IGCSE, FMSQ or A-Level grade.

For the last 10 years I've been a Maths/Physics classroom teacher in schools in London and Manchester (full DBS).

Over the last academic year (2022-23) I've taught over 750 hours as an individual/small group tutor, with 20+ repeat students (several long-term for two years or more).

Expert curriculum knowledge
I have an in depth knowledge of the topics and exam questions for the current KS3, GCSE, IGCSE, FMSQ/Additional Maths and A-Level curriculum across all major exam boards.

Expert pedagogical understanding
I have an in depth understanding of how different students learn Maths and I know several different explanations/methods/techniques for each topic.

Tutoring Approach

I work with students who either find learning Maths a struggle or who want consolidation/extension of their learning, or just need an extra confidence boost. I’m always calm, patient and encouraging and I give clear, knowledgeable explanations with plenty of different examples using a variety of good quality teaching resources.

My lessons would be structured but flexible and highly tailored to your needs and curriculum, with the right levels of challenge and support at the right time. Mostly I just enjoy helping others to learn, understand and solve problems in the subjects I love!
