Personal Description:

I am a 6th year medical student at Oxford. During my third year I specialised in Neuroscience and published research on gene editing. This background has aided my understanding of the scientific literature and enabled me to better teach the analytical skills needed at degree level.

I have a keen interest in science and maths and how they relate to the everyday world around us. This helps me teach these subjects, which can often be presented in a very dry manner, in a more engaging and memorable way.

Additionally medical school can be difficult at times. I am keen to use my knowledge and experience to guide others through areas they may find difficult. I have a special interest in anatomy, neurology and surgery - though I am able to provide tuition in all areas of the curriculum.

Tutoring Experience:

I have experience providing a wide range of tuition. Recently I have been helping candidates prepare for GCSE and A Level exams in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I have also helped people out with personal statements and university applications for medicine, averaging over 4 offers each. I realise that the application process can be daunting and am keen to use my own experience to help others.

Tutoring Approach:

I prefer to work in an exam focused manner going through practice questions and then addressing any issues that arise either with exam technique or subject understanding. The simplest approach is usually the best.

The first session will consist of going through the syllabus for the relevant exam board and highlighting areas to target. This will be followed by several practice questions, allowing me to decide, with you, on the teaching style that suits you best. From then on we will systematically address each area of weakness in turn with a focus on maximising exam performance.

Ultimately these sessions are about maximising your time and effort and I hope to engage with you in a manner that allows this.

For interview practice the focus will be on the areas of knowledge and qualities expected by medical schools. I aim to provide a realistic experience designed to ensure that on the day my tutee's do not have to worry about what might come up and can simply focus on being themselves.
