This is how 2 referees rated Alex:
I am a fully qualified, outstanding teacher of both sociology and psychology at a secondary school, achieving excellent results every year. I am also an AQA examiner for Sociology. I thoroughly enjoy teaching both subjects to A Level and I have a passion and enthusiasm for them, which I am told (by my students) comes across in my lessons. I have an upbeat and enthusiastic approach to learning, and I firmly believe any student can achieve their potential if they receive support and encouragement. I am friendly, approachable, supportive and committed to helping young people achieve their very best!
I have been teaching full time at a secondary school for 13 years and have been running a very large and successful Social Sciences/Humanities department for 12 of these. Both subjects are incredibly popular and during my time at the school, the results of my students have always been very good. I teach sociology at both GCSE and A Level, and Psychology A Level. I have also previously tutored a number of A Level students. My experience is with the AQA specifications for both subjects (Psychology AQA specification). Topics I specialise in are:
Sociology: Families & Households, Education and Research Methods, Religion (Beliefs in society) and Crime & Deviance, Theory and methods.
Psychology: Psychopathology, Social influence, Developmental (attachments), Research methods, Biopsychology, Issues, Debates and Approaches, Aggression, Addiction, Stress, Eating behaviour, Schizophrenia and Relationships
I am also an experienced examiner for AQA A Level Sociology.
My approach to tutoring will entirely depend on the needs of the student and the purpose of the tuition. From experience, often the purpose of tuition is help achieve a good exam result, and therefore my starting point would be to ascertain whether the focus needs to be on increasing subject knowledge, developing exam skills, or simply raising overall confidence in the subject. I will tailor my approach to the needs of the student.

Alex also genuinely cares about the student and is excellent at identifying where problems lie and where more focus needs to be put. I can't recommend her highly enough!
Alex is always well prepared and starts the sessions immediately and provides both myself and Megan with advice on how to achieve the best results.
I would certainly recommend her as a tutor.
