Hi I'm an experienced Secondary Science & Mathematics teacher with DBS Clearance and I've worked with students of widely ranging ability and predisposition over the years. I've worked with large and small groups and in one to one tuition and I have run many lunch time and after school clubs to help maximise pupil progress on a one to one basis. I have always achieved excellent results for students under these conditions! I'm fully conversant with AQA and OCR exam boards and also have experience with Edexcel.
At Plymouth University I attained a 1st Class degree in Analytical Chemistry and won the Glasson Memorial Prize for Chemistry. Before my degree i did Plymouth University's Extended Science course and attained A Grades in Biology, Chemistry, Maths & Statistics at AS Level.
My exam technique and revision was excellent and I always make sure I pass on the useful elements of my approach to everyone I tutor - this usually being the most daunting part of the program of study. Good preparation and strategy are just as important as proper understanding so I always take a holistic approach and pass on exam and revision skills as well as information.

The language and terminology to use and the proper use of numerical and descriptive techniques is a huge part of the pathway to success. Many students perform poorly because they don't express the knowledge they have in a way that will gain them marks. Schools may not have time to go into the fine detail and sadly pupils who could do really well can then achieve less than they would do, if you are struggling to achieve your full potential you may well be one of these pupils who are intelligent enough to do well but struggle due to the need for a little more training and input.
My role is to ensure that you get the best possible results under whatever challenging circumstances may be in place - often that includes lack of confidence and practice and some key understanding, all of these are often linked and can often be solved together! I have collected a vast range of resources over the years which suit different learning personalities, and at the same time we will work within the exam board specifications, and always gear our efforts towards the "in-house" requirements! :)
