Maths and English Tuition in Coombe (Croydon)

I view myself as an organised, dedicated and hard working person. I am very enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and learning which keeps me engaged in research and news around education.

Through developing my position as a teaching leader , I understand the importance of leading by example, having high expectations for myself. Equally, I understand how important it is to review and evaluate my practice. I am always eager to learn new skills and different methods of working.

Throughout my teaching career, I have also worked as a one-to-one tutor with children who need additional support. 1:1 tutoring works best when you are able to develop a personal learning experience for the individual. This enables the pupil to feel comfortable, confident, safe to make mistakes and overcome challenges thus reaching their full potential.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a primary school teacher since 2012. I am a specialist in English, Early readings and Maths. I have experience working with children who has special educational needs and who are learning with English as a second language.

My teaching experience includes:

4 years - Qualified Classroom teacher /Middle leader/ PE co-ordinator/Phonics co-ordinator/ Read Write Manager/NQT Mentor

4 years - Qualified Classroom teacher/PE- Co-coordinator/ Maths co-ordinator/ Senior management team

3 years (to date) - Qualified Classroom teacher/PE- Co-coordinator/ phonics co-ordinator/ Middle leader Green Wrythe Primary school

Tutoring Approach

I believe experiential learning is the best teaching approach. It encourages creativity, helps students learn from mistakes, fosters reflective thinking, and prepares students for future experiences. It can be effective for several subjects, especially when developing confidence within a subject a child is struggling. By encouraging students to assess themselves regularly and reflect on what they’ve learnt they are able to retain information and develop a deeper understanding.
