Hi, I’m Alan – my aim, as a tutor, is for students to:

About Me:
- A-Level – A*, A*, A*, A*, A* (Maths, Further Maths, Economics, Computer Science, EPQ)
- GCSE – All 8s / 9s

• Since I have recently studied and achieved an A* grade in Maths & Further Maths at A-Level, I have first-hand experience in what is required to achieve the top grade in the subject - I teach my students those same techniques that got me an A* Grade.

• I am currently studying Advanced Mathematics at university, with a focus on both pure and applied fields.

I have spent 5 years tutoring in person (11+, Entrance Exams, SATs, GCSE, A-Level), and have recently transitioned my students to online lessons – I now offer my service on FirstTutors as well – though I only have limited spaces available.

From personal experience, I have an understanding of what it takes to achieve the highest grade in Maths – with hard work, the right guidance, and an A* exam technique, I am confident that your child can achieve the highest grades too.

Tutoring Approach

All Lessons will be taught using a structured approach and will be personalised for each student based on their school and exam board (e.g. AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Eduqas, Cambridge International)

• Introductory Lesson Offered

• Lessons carried out using Skype + Online Whiteboard (shared screen)

▶ Homework questions will be given after each lesson - detailed feedback will be returned. This is essential to achieve the highest grade.

▶ ️A Key focus on Exam Technique will be a prominent feature of each Lesson - knowing how to tackle each question, how long to spend on each question, and being prepared for the Exam Pressures that will come up in the exam is part of the preparation.

▶ ️Lessons will involve Tons of Exam-Style Practise Questions, Homework Questions, Unit Tests, Mock Exams & Past Paper Exams - this way, students will be fully prepared for all types of questions that may possibly come up in their exams.

• I use a Scientific Approach to Learning, using techniques such as Active Recall (exam-style questions, flashcards etc.) and Spaced Repetition (regular revisiting of past topics to prevent students from forgetting any content).

• I teach students the exact A* Methods + Techniques that my past students, and I, have used to achieve the top grades.

• If students have any concerns in-between lessons, they can send me a Skype message, and I will get back to them as soon as possible. I want students to be as confident as possible, and as ready as they can be for their Official Exams - I will be there for support all of the way.
