Hello! I am currently a 5th-year medical student at Cambridge University. I have already obtained a First-Class degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge. At A-level, I studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-Level.
I achieved 6A*s (which include triple science) and 5As at GCSE, as well as 4As at AS-Level and A*A*A at A-Level (A* in Biology and Chemistry).
I achieved an average score of 770 on the UCAT and 6.0 on the BMAT.
I am offering online tuition, for the following:
- KS3 science tuition
- GCSE tuition in Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- A-Level tuition in Biology and Chemistry
- BMAT and UCAT help
- Personal Statement
- Medicine interviews
By tutoring Year 7 - 11 students at a centre for over 2 years, I am able to effectively teach students of wide ranging abilities and ages.
Also, I have been tutoring A-Level and GCSE students on a one-to-one basis for the last 7 years, so am familiar with the changes to the specifications and have adapted my teaching methods and resources as a result of this. During my gap year, I tutored several GCSE students, all of whom achieved a grade 8 or 9 in their GCSE Science exams.
I am aware of how difficult and stressful it can feel for students applying to medical schools. It is a long road with many obstacles to overcome such as obtaining a good score in the admissions tests, writing a unique personal statement and finally, performing well in interviews (MMIs and traditional). I have gone through the process of applying to Russel Group medical schools with gruelling application processes and was accepted by all 4 schools I had applied to. As such, I have the resources and knowledge to effectively aid and support applicants to medicine.
This includes:
- Resources and strategies to tackle BMAT and UCAT questions (all sections)
- Sound knowledge of the structure and requirements of a strong personal statement which has been developed as a result of reading and giving feedback on over 70 personal statements
- Tactics for performing well in MMIs and traditional interviews
My approach to tutoring is to enable students to firstly understand content and then be able to apply it to exam questions. This builds a sound foundation upon which students are able to develop their exam techniques. Providing exam questions specifically tailored to specifications, as well as regular content reviews, I ensure students' progress and am able to quickly identify opportunities for improvement.
Conducting online tutoring smoothly and effectively requires having fantastic virtual resources and an understanding of online learning, which I believe I have. In fact, most of my students now prefer online tutoring as it is, logistically, much easier for them and they find there is no difference in the quality of the sessions (compared to in-person sessions). I am able to utilise technology efficiently in order to directly explain and support my students during the sessions.
