Qualified and Experienced KS3 Science, GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry & GCSE Physics Tutor

Please read my 5* reviews below.

I graduated in 2009 with a BSc Biology degree. I then volunteered in a local school helping children with reading and their classroom work which inspired me to pursue a career in teachng. I completed my PGCE (teacher training course) in 2012. Since then I have taught KS3 and GCSE Science and A-level Biology and A-level Chemistry in secondary schools and sixth form colleges in the north east snd south east of the UK. I also hold an enhanced DBS certificate.

I currently offer face to face, 1 to 1 tutoring for KS3 Science, GCSE and iGCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics. I cover all the major exam boards - AQA, OCR, Cambridge (CIE), and Pearson/Edexcel.

Previous roles and responsibilities;
*KS3 (Y7 & Y8) and GCSE Science teacher, covering all 3 sciences
*Science Strategy Manager, in charge of KS3 curriculum planning, development, management, assessment and student attainment tracking
*GCSE Science examiner/marker for the AQA, OCR and Pearson/Edexcel exam boards
*Bridging the gap between GCSE and A-level (extra support classes for Y12 students studying A-level Biology)
*Oxford Royale Academy Teacher (Summer School) teaching Human Biology to international students aged 11-16
*Student support mentor for GCSE science and A-level Biology students
*Science home tutor for students with SEND and SEMH needs

Therefore I am highly qualified, experienced and a specialist in my field. I am not just another unqualified teacher/graduate tutoring multiple subjects.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, walking in the countryside and at the beach, cooking, baking, scuba diving and paintballing.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a specialist KS3 and GCSE science tutor since 2010. I have 1500+ hours experience tutoring students. I have tutored students sitting the foundation, higher and triple science papers so I am able to adapt my teaching to meet your needs.

I currently work as a science home tutor at an alternative provision where I tutor Y7-Y11 students 1 to 1 or in small groups. I have worked with students and tutees with SEND and SEMH needs, including ADHD, Autism/ASD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and anxiety.

As a qualified teacher, and full time home tutor, I am up to date with the current GCSE science content for the different exam boards and specifications.

I have also previously marked GCSE science exam papers for the AQA, OCR and Pearson/Edexcel exam boards. This enables me develop and improve your exam technique so you can understand and break down questions and write detailed scientific answers to gain the marks available. I can also provide you with useful hints and tips to learn and retain key information, concepts and terminology and effective revision and exam strategies.

My previous tutees have achieved noticeable successes including attaining full marks on exam papers, increasing their grade by 3 grades and achieving the GCSE and A-level results required to be accepted and attend the college or university of their choice.

Tutoring Approach

I am relaxed, reliable, friendly and totally student focused, it is my aim to give you a deep understanding of the subject matter and not just teach you how to pass an exam. I am highly professional with a kind nature who will take the time to listen to you and personalise the sessions to your needs.

Lessons are enjoyable but focused and tailored to your needs whether it be focusing on specific topics, a broad overview, building self-confidence or developing exam technique.

I will assess your prior knowledge and understanding on the initial session so this can be built upon.

During lessons I will use varied activities to deliver the content, and exam questions to improve your exam technique and build your self-confidence which ensures you can achieve your full potential.

I offer study skills and time management guidance on how to make your revision more effective and efficient.

Homework and revision tasks are set after each session to cement concepts and assess your development of knowledge, skills and understanding.

Please contact me to discuss your requirements.
