Maths and Physics Teacher in Wishaw

“Any fool can know… the point is to understand” – Albert Einstein

I am First Class Masters Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. I have aptitudes in all areas related to the field of Mechanical Engineering, Physics and Mathematics, and currently use my academic achievements as a full time Fire Engineer in a large consultancy firm.

I know how to put learning into practice, in a way that can help myself and others build successful knowledge which can lead into a fulfilling career. I am a practiced Tutor and love helping students go from struggling to thriving in a subject and seeing the joy and success they have gained.

I also speak fluent Spanish, having lived two years in the South of Spain, and have grown a great love of the Spanish culture. Many international students have been able to grow from my experience and knowledge, particularly persistence in keeping up with studies and helping them throughout my tutoring sessions.

I also offer tutoring in music. I have a great love for music and am skilled in many instruments, and have a high competency in musical theory, concepts, and composition

Above all I believe that when hard work and effort is put into anything, anyone can succeed. I love to motivate and help students through their frustrations, misunderstandings, or any other barriers they find. All can be overcome with their diligence and guidance from a tutor, as myself can attest to.

Tutoring Experience

SPANISH/ENGLISH
I lived for two years in the south of Spain, and through conversing with locals and my own studies of grammar became fluent to a grade C2 CEFR level in Spanish (highest level of fluency in a language). I have been teaching Spanish and English classes since 2016 and have assisted a wide variety of people of all ages and skills to achieve their language goals. These goals varied from passing important CEFR or DELE exams to simply wanting to practise before visiting on holiday.

MUSIC
Music has been a great passion of mine throughout my life. I regularly compose my own pieces/songs of all genres, and have taught myself to play 6 musical instruments to various degrees of competency:

Violin - Trinity Guildhall Grade 8 Examined and Certified
Piano - Trinity Guildhall Grade 5
Guitar - Trinity Guildhall Grade 6
Drums - Trinity Guildhall Grade 5
Bass - Trinity Guildhall Grade 6
Ukelele - Trinity Guildhall Grade 5

From my studies over the years, I have garnered a solid understanding of musical theory, music composition, and general concepts that are fundamental for success while studying music.

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
I graduated university last year with a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and am currently working as a consultant for a large international engineering firm. From my studies, I have a comprehensive understanding of key engineering fields such as Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Dynamics of Motion, and Material Sciences. I have experience teaching these subjects while assisting professors at university to teach tutorial classes for younger students. I also have two years of experience with Fire Engineering.

PHYSICS/MATHS
Engineering is the practical application of fundamental Physics principles, spoken in the language of Maths. I have a true passion for Physics and understanding of how the universe works, which in turn guided me to pursue a career in its practical application. I have studied both Maths and Physics to an advanced level, and have previous experience tutoring pupils of varying levels/abilities in these subjects.

Tutoring Approach

I wholeheartedly believe that teaching shouldn’t be simply lecturing to your students; I have instead seen much success when an environment is created in which students can learn themselves and develop their understanding. The student should be supported in this development and given the opportunity to first work things out for themselves – this hugely improves the ability to understand key concepts and principles which will allow them to excel!

Each student is individual and learns differently; because of this, I am completely open and flexible in my approach to tutoring. Each lesson is 60 minutes long and completely tailored to the needs of each student… this allows them to maximise their learning potential and make the most of their time with me!
