Hello! My name's Kels and I am a professional dancer and dance teacher.
I would love to offer my services to you as a street dance teacher in commercial and hip hop styles, as well as a contemporary and choreography/freestyle dance teacher.
I am a graduate professional, with a BA Honours Degree in Dance Performance. Within my degree, modules included Dance Teacher Training and Choreography.
I am currently a working professional dancer, mainly in the commercial dance industry. Some of my credits include Rita Ora, Will i am, Little Mix, Tinie Tempah, Megan Tranor, Iggy Azalea, Girls Aloud UK Arena Ten Tour, Xfactor UK Arena Tours, Cheryl Cole, JLS, Paloma Faith, Wretch 32, Sugababes, Xfactor TV shows, Britain's Got Talent, the Olympic Opening Ceremony 2012, and the Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony 2014.
I have extensive experience working in the industry that is up to date, and can therefore provide dance classes for all ages in street, contemporary and jazz dance that are fresh, engaging and fun. Coming first hand from a current performer in the industry, I have a lot of knowledge that I can pass on to aspiring dancers, as well as those that dance more as a hobby. So whether you just want a private class for fun, to build your dance skills for when you go on nights out, you have a special occasion coming up, or you or your child has an important dance exam/show coming up that you would like to receive extra training for, I can help. Audition techniques can also be taught.
Dance Instruction/Teaching Experience::
I have lots of experience working with and teaching children and adults of all ages. I work for different companies on a casual basis including Seen on Screen, Stagecoach, L'Ouverture, MBK and Safrey Academy of Performing Arts. I have taught in primary schools and secondary schools in the boroughs of Lambeth and Croydon, during school time and at after school clubs. I have also taught on courses during the summer schemes and half terms, and also for specialised performing arts schools, and for kids parties.
I believe it is important for children and young people, as well as adults to be able to express their creative side, at the same time as learning and developing various performance skills in the process. I feel that dance is a great method, especially for the younger generation, to attain certain life skills, such as confidence, organisation, working in a team and focusing, all whilst having a fun learning session.
I understand that each individual person requires different needs when it comes to learning dance, which I cater too. I work at whatever pace is necessary for each student, to ensure the student gains the most of the session.
As a professional performer, I can safely say the knowledge gained from my dance training and performance career, has helped develop my skills as an avid dance teacher.
I am DBS checked and I have PLI. I have a full UK drivers license, I own a car and I live in London.
