Information about Ezgi - Highgate instructor

Personal Description::

My name is Ezgi and I am a storyteller. Ezgi, in Turkish language, means "the bittersweet melody that touches your heart" and I enjoy experiencing, processing and performing the kind of art this music creates through the aliveness of our beautiful bodily instruments. Whilst guiding my students through the path of finding their authentic (yet changing) expressions via the gifts of contemporary belly dance, I do benefit from my academic proficiency in Social Anthropology and Family Counselling which gives me a multidisciplinary lens to explore human behaviour and cultures as well as their existential manifestations. Although I have gained countless qualifications in ballet, modern dance, Latin dance (competition-level), old school hip-hop and house dance (the Hip-Hop Dance Conservatory, H+, in NYC), burlesque (in Maastricht, the Netherlands), pole dancing (in Istanbul) and contemporary dance (at UCL Dance Society) throughout my life, I decided to deepen in the empowering dialogue between the belly, spine and hips. I welcome anyone who would like to learn to listen to their bodies that wishes to tell their truthful stories and beyond.
