Personal Description:

I know you want to express yourself with ease and freedom, who doesn’t? I also know it can be frustrating and challenging. That, I understand wholeheartedly. Let’s not allow fear to stand in the way of your expression!
Hi, I’m Cal:
A Vocal & Performance Coach by trade, pasta enthusiast and Star Wars fanatic by night.
Throughout my career I have received insightful lessons and profound advice from both teachers and fellow musicians alike, ranging from leading vocal science experts, classical and contemporary mentors, innovative songwriters and music production icons. I strongly believe these dedicated professionals nurtured the best within me, and all their students, and I endeavour to do the same with you.
Training Specialisms:
I specialise in mentoring aspiring singer-songwriters and problem-solving with vocalists and instrumentalists. Additionally, I prepare students for music auditions and performances, whilst teaching dedicated hobbyists to be the best musicians they can be. As a Vocal I offer a unique perspective on presentation as the voice's tone and your body language conveys most of what you wish to communicate.
After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Songwriting and Vocal Education, I started teaching professionally, delivering hundreds of hours of private tuition and coaching multiple successful Brit School entrants. I enjoy working with students who seek technical proficiency, but above all, I encourage them to channel emotion and express their creativity. I am grateful for all that have learnt from the unique perspectives of both my tutors and my students, which continue to inform my methodology, supported by ongoing professional development.
Training Methods:
My teaching approach is Student Centred learning. Together we will find your authentic self.
Exploring many aspects of music, we’ll move through:
Building: Creating a solid technical foundation and healthy focused understanding of your voice and body language based on ease and comfort.
Balance: Continuing with balancing technical abilities with expressive and stylistic elements linked to your natural movements and pattens.
Exploration: Playing with colour, tone and authenticity with a focus on illuminating your desired characteristics (which you already process).
Play: Performance coaching with sole focus on delivering a confident, fluid and expressive product with a view to being, connected, emoting and present.
There are also an abundance of free resources for you to use. Plus, utilising an online studio suite, students have 24/7 access to book lessons, log practice and receive feedback. With automated text and email reminders for upcoming lessons and events, you can keep focused on what we do best: learn and play.
The need to communicate and express runs deep. Tell me what you'd like to achieve from our sessions.
I want to help you.
Let’s play!
