I am a successful Maths Tutor of 10 years+ helping students to achieve the grade they deserve by boosting their confidence and honing their skills. I have a 1st Class Honours degree in Financial Mathematics and then went on to complete a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics before pursuing my career in the classroom.

I'm a hard working, patient individual looking to improve the mathematics skills of my students by hopefully increasing their understanding rather than just telling them what is needed to complete their exams.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught in secondary schools in the West Midlands were I have gained invaluable experience and knowledge in teaching the curriculum to SEN students and to gifted and talented.

I am also a fully qualified GCSE and KS2 examination marker which means I can apply mark schemes properly, advise students how to maximise their marks and which methods are best to use.

I am also familiar with Functional Skills examinations and have the knowledge to help you pass.

Tutoring Approach

I initially like to talk to the student and see where they think their weaknesses lie, also simple assessments such as past exam papers can highlight areas that need looking at. Often students are able to tell me what they would like to focus on during the lesson and I am usually able to quickly adapt and create a lesson to support that. I can also liaise with school if necessary.

I use Zoom to conduct the lessons which allows me, and the student, to annotate on the screen. I am super friendly which helps to create a relaxed learning environment where it's okay to make mistakes.

I am happy to set and mark work outside the lesson to further help students reach their goal.
