Hi, I'm Zeena and I am a 4th year student studying Dentistry at Queen Mary University London.
During my A-levels, I was a mentor, teaching Maths, Chemistry and English to those in the younger years and this continued on into university where I have been involved in a peer-assisted mentoring scheme as mentor, teaching lectures to those in the younger years.
Having only recently finished school, achieving 4A*s at A-levels and 8 9s and 3 8s at GCSEs, I understand how difficult and overwhelming preparing for exams can be. Over the years, I have cultivated many methods and techniques that have helped me achieve my grades and I now want to share what I have learnt to help students build the skills and the confidence to ace their exams.
I aim to provide a friendly, supportive and collaborative environment where the student feels comfortable to have an open and honest discussion about their concerns.
I believe the key to success to learning any subject is having a firm grasp of fundamental concepts. It is so important for a student to understand why they are learning certain processes or steps, rather than simply memorising a mark scheme. This involves taking big concepts and breaking them down into simplified points in a way that the student can easily make links, which they can then use to apply to questions. It is through this that a student will be able to feel confident to tackle any question that approaches them, even if they haven't seen something like it before.
Sessions will involve breaking down a topic and explaining it, then practising exam questions as well as going over exam technique. Homework will be given after, to consolidate the learning. The first session will start with exploring the main points of weakness and those are the topics which we will begin with.
Additionally, I can also help and advise students who are interested in applying to Dentistry at university.
