I am a current Maths teacher with 6 years teaching experience and 8 years tutoring experience. I teach Year 7 to 13 and I am the head of KS5. I have excellent subject knowledge at both GCSE and A level. I am patient, friendly and passionate about my subject, and I will help your child become more comfortable and confident in Maths.

Tutoring Experience

Giving my experiences of having worked in both private and state schools for the past 6 years, I am able to give tailored advice for students’ situation and recommendations based on an initial assessment. I follow the model of ‘I do, we do, you do’ where I show the student how to do an example, we complete a similar question together to consolidate learning, and lastly the student try a question by themselves. This gives the opportunity for misconceptions to arise and be dealt with and mistakes eliminated from future questions.

Tutoring Approach

The sessions I run are specifically designed for each individual student. This takes into account the level they are currently working at, target grade, their areas for development and preferred learning style.
At GCSE and A level I build into each session past exam questions, including problem solving questions using the techniques learnt in the lesson.
I am happy to set homework questions to build upon the skills covered and will mark and give feedback on any work completed. In addition, I provide a plan of work to be covered for the term/ year after consulting with students and parents.
I tutor both in person and online. The online lessons are conducted through Microsoft teams and an online whiteboard that lets both me and the student see what the other is writing in real time. It is easily as effective as face-to-face tuition and the students doesn’t have the added pressure of someone watching over them while they work.
