Hello! I'm a native Spanish teacher with over 20 years of experience helping students of all levels grow in confidence and succeed with the language. I hold a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish), awarded in 2004, and have taught in a variety of secondary schools and educational settings across the UK. I’ve also mentored trainee teachers (PGCE students), which has deepened my understanding of how to tailor lessons effectively and bring out the best in every learner.
I’m passionate about making Spanish both engaging and accessible. Over the years, I’ve helped learners improve their grades, master exam techniques, and develop a genuine love for the language.
As a parent myself, I understand how important it is to support each child in a way that suits their unique needs. Whether your child is aiming for top marks or needs a boost to gain confidence and achieve a solid pass, I tailor my lessons to meet them where they are—and then help them go even further.
My love of Hispanic history, culture, and politics has been especially valuable in supporting A-level students. I provide clear grammar instruction and targeted exam preparation strategies, helping students not only meet but often exceed their predicted grades.
My journey into private tutoring began when I supported my own son through his A-level Spanish studies. With one-to-one support, he not only met but exceeded his predicted grades, achieving top marks in his final exams. That experience showed me just how powerful personalised tutoring can be, and it inspired me to start helping other students in the same way.
Since then, I’ve seen many of my students grow in confidence, improve their exam technique, and achieve or surpass their target grades—often unlocking a genuine interest in the language along the way.
My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs and closely aligned with the topics they’re covering at school. After an initial assessment, we work together to build up vocabulary, reinforce grammar, and develop strong exam techniques across all four key skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
For GCSE and A-level students, I place particular focus on helping them feel confident with exam formats and expectations. With A-level students, we work in more depth on grammar accuracy, complex sentence structures, and developing high-quality responses—especially for the speaking assessment and essay-based questions. I also support students in expanding their general and cultural knowledge, which is crucial for top-level answers.
As exams approach, lessons become more focused on exam preparation and practice papers, targeting the specific skills and papers they’ll be sitting. During the summer (particularly in August), I also offer sessions for A-level students who may need extra support in consolidating grammar and strengthening their foundation before the new academic year.
