I started learning music with the Yamaha system, which focuses on popular music. I went on to study keyboard, piano and popular singing at College. After this I went on to university to gain a degree in music and popular music. Here I took classical ABRSM piano and vocals and I then studied classical music and popular music in my masters at Middlesex. Due to this am very comfortable in teaching both classical and popular music styles. I now have completed courses at SOAS university and can also teach techniques found in World Music.
I teach ABRSM and Trinity grades up to grade 8 in both piano and singing but I'm also happy to teach pupils who don't wish to do grades. I have taught in schools and colleges and have had all levels and ages of students, including students with learning disabilities.
I also teach music composition and music theory.
I have taught privately, in schools and colleges for 8 years. This includes children to adults and people with learning difficulties.
I teach piano and singing 1 to 1 lessons, group lessons and choirs in primary and secondary schools. I have taught beginners up to preparing students for GSCE and A level music.
I have also taught class lessons in colleges, focusing on 16 - 19 year olds. I currently teach outreach programmes for WAC arts.
I have experience in teaching people with learning difficulties. I teach a choir at City Lit to a people with a wide range of learning difficulties. I also teach piano to students with down syndrome and autism.
My PGCE is in further education and I am DBS checked.
I believe anyone can achieve what they want to musically.
Music should be enjoyed by everyone and I can help you achieve your musical goals in a fun and positive way, whether it's preparing for exams or university or a personal music goal.
