Xavier

After graduating from St John's College, Cambridge with a first in Classics, Xavier spent 9 months living and working in Moscow as a private tutor to a family there. He has also been a Latin teacher at the Stephen Perse Foundation Senior School in Cambridge and a volunteer teacher of science at Comberton Village College in Cambridgeshire. With over 5 years of experience as a tutor Xavier specialises in Latin, Greek and Spanish up to university level and also helps students prepare for 7+, 11+ and 13+ examinations for top schools in the UK. He recently completed his Masters at the Royal College of Music and when he is not teaching Xavier is a professional operatic tenor.
Xavier is gifted with the ability to speak many languages, including English, Greek, Latin, Spanish, Russian, French and Italian. He is also a Grade 8 pianist (jazz and classical). He has demonstrated himself to be a very academically abled student when he was studying, achieving top results, and now he is helping other students do the same.

My methods of language teaching are traditional. They are based on the idea that in fact a thorough knowledge of grammar is what gives the pupil the freedom to be creative with language. Regular rote learning of vocabulary is also vital. Memorable passages from literature can help to exemplify grammatical subjects
