I am a neuroscience graduate from King's College London and 5th Year medical student at University College London (UCL) who is committed to helping students reach their full potential in their studies. I am passionate about the sciences and I hope to be able to evoke the same enthusiasm in my students. I have extensive experience working with young people and believe I have the skill set to help them achieve their best. I have worked with students from disadvantaged backgrounds which has helped me hone my communication skills.
Finally, having gone through the process of both neuroscience and medical school applications, UKCAT and BMAT I understand how this can be a daunting process. I am therefore happy to offer advice and help with personal statements, UKCAT and BMAT preparation and mock interviews.
I have experience tutoring young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in GCSE Biology, Chemisty and Physics as part of King's college London's Rising Leaders Programme. This involved running a Saturday school for students in inner city schools in a bid to boost their grades and I am pleased to say we achieved this goal with my students obtaining A/A* grades. Furthermore, I have amassed extensive experience tutoring A-level students in Biology all of which have been extremely successful in their endeavours. For both GCSE and A-level I have experience with the OCR, Edexcel, Edexcel salters and AQA curricula.
As a tutor I am very student focused and I adapt my teaching style to the needs of my students. I am a firm believer that you cannot take a 'one size fits all' approach in tutoring and this is reflected in my teaching.
I like to familiarise myself with a student's syllabus to ensure that I teach them things that are relevant and that will ensure success in their exams. Furthermore, I challenge students academically to enable to them to reach their potential. I do this ensuring that they feel comfortable to make mistakes but more importantly are able to learn from their mistakes. I believe that every mistake made in class is one less mistake they will make in their exams. I regularly set mock examinations to monitor my student's progress and also to highlight areas for improvement.
I am an extremely patient individual and I understand that this is crucial when tutoring students. I also have a great drive and passion for the sciences and try and make my sessions as interactive as possible to hopefully conjure up the same enthusiasm in my students as often that is the key to achieving the best results.
