Hi my name is Will. I live in the Vale of Belvoir and close to Melton and Grantham. I am a passionate mathematics student and a prospective PhD candidate who loves to teach people a rigorous and exciting way to think about maths.
I have had vast exposure to the world of mathematics. My passion for the topic has always been present but flourished when studying Further Maths at GCSE and when studying A-Level Maths and Further Maths. My Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of York have really shown me the almost infinite array of applications and possibilities that Mathematics holds. During my degree I specialised in Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Biology, Soft Matter and Fluid Dynamics. At some point in 2024 I am looking at pursuing a PhD in Applied Mathematics.
Previous to this year I have casually tutored friends and family in A-Level Maths in the past to great success. Now I am looking to take on students at any level of confidence and hopefully guide them on a path where they can thrive in their GCSEs or A-Levels.
As a young maths tutor I understand very well what it is like to revise for these exams and how to succeed. I took these same exams not too long ago! I am a keen believer that "just remembering" certain rules does not help in the long term application and recalling of techniques. Hence, I am able to breakdown the sometimes mysterious nature of mathematical concepts. I believe I am able to gauge the students understanding of a topic and cater my teaching style to fit their confidence and pace whilst making sure that explanations are clear and concise.
I have been actively studying mathematics for the past 4 years at university and am currently looking at Mathematics research as a career. This means I am very confident and familiar with revision techniques, teaching styles and how to approach topics in the correct way.
