Victoria attended Hurtwood House School, achieving 3 A* grades at A Level in English Literature, History and Theatre Studies. Having completed a Foundation Course in Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art, Victoria went on to study History of Art at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with a First Class MA Degree in 2015. She then spent a year training on the Postgraduate Course at the Oxford School of Drama before moving to London.
I have been working as a tutor since graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. With over 2000+ hours in experience, I have helped numerous students prepare for examinations at 11+, 13+, GCSE and A Level examinations.
I am particularly experienced with preparing students for 11+ examinations, focusing on English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. I am well-versed in the specifications for the ISEB Pre-Test and have prepared countless students in their applications to top London schools (including City of London {Boys and Girls}, Westminster, St Pauls, King's College, Godolphin and Latymer) as well as Eton, Winchester, Wycombe Abbey and others. With access to a wealth of material (practise papers, revision guides and a BOFA account) I tailor my approach to the individual needs of each student, helping to create a safe environment in which to learn, improve, tackle problem areas and hone examination technique.
Having studied Art at Wimbledon College of Art, I continue to draw and paint in my spare time. I have tutored numerous aspiring artists with varying levels of ability and ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old. Recently I have helped a 13 year old flesh out her portfolio in preparation for her art scholarship, utilising a range of different media including charcoal, pencil, pastels and paint (watercolour/poster/oil), and worked with an 18 year old in her applications for design school in the US.
I have also provided guidance and assistance to pupils applying to university, with particular focus on the preparation for interview and personal statement. I have extensive experience with Drama School applicants, working one-on-one to help polish performances, aid with monologue choices and improve interview technique.
My approach to tutoring will be tailored to each individual tutee- I strongly believe that there is no set or 'correct' way of learning and that it is important to understand the tutee's abilities, goals and areas of difficulty in order to determine the best way of tackling a subject. Having met, we would go about establishing the aims and objectives of the tutee, construct a work 'plan of action' and get stuck in. I think it is important to keep any subject alive and exciting- whether this means visiting galleries or museums, playing games or just making sure there is variety in each tutoring session.
