In 2012, I graduated from St Mary's University, Twickenham with a BA(HONS) in Primary Education with QTS.

Throughout my 13 year primary teaching career, I have gained valuable experience and have taught across the entire primary age range (EYFS, KS1 and KS2.)
Prior to having my daughter in 2022, I held a successful leadership position within KS2 for many years and have also been the whole school curriculum lead for both English and Maths.

Tutoring Offered:
EYFS tuition - phonics, reading, maths, writing.
KS1 tuition - preparation for phonics screening test, reading/comprehension, writing, maths.
KS2 tuition - reading/comprehension, writing, maths. phonics catch up, SPAG

Tutoring Experience

I have successful teaching and tutoring experience across the primary age range. I have a solid understanding of phonics, early reading and early number. I also have several years experience in preparing children for Y6 SATs, focusing on key curriculum content, test skills and exam technique.

I fully understand and appreciate the fast paced nature of the primary curriculum and how daunting it can feel to be told that your child isn't progressing as they should or has fallen behind in specific areas. I have a great deal of experience in identifying and closing specific gaps that a child may have, resulting in accelerated progress and a real gain in confidence.

Tutoring Approach

• Taking time to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils;
• Patience;
• Prior to a tutoring session, I will spend time collating a range of resources that focus on identified gaps in understanding;
• Provision of questions/materials linked to focus area;
• Physical resources to support understanding e.g. number lines, numicon, counters etc;
• Confidence to adapt tutoring sessions, building confidence through scaffolding, encouragement and high-quality teaching;
• Interactive games and activities to keep learning fun and maintain engagement;
• Parental feedback on progress/areas for further development.

The impact 1:1 tutoring can have is extremely significant. It is incredibly rewarding and I love to see the children I work with thrive, gain confidence and achieve their full potential.
