I have a proven track record of facilitating excellent progress in students whether that is moving those who previously struggled with the subject from a level 3 to a level 6+ or ensuring that those with the potential to achieve the highest outcomes achieve level 9s in both English Literature and English Language. I pride myself on making my sessions engaging, informative and purposeful, nurturing my students to safely explore their approach to the subject whilst steadily improving their knowledge of it.
I charge £40 for each one hour online session.

Tutoring Experience

Working at one of the highest achieving (consistently Ofsted ‘Outstanding’) schools in the North West for over 20 years has allowed me to continually focus on subject pedagogy and the latest in proven methods of teaching and learning.
Whether I’m teaching top set Y11 or a group of Y8 students with a variety of learning difficulties, lessons, like my online sessions, are tailored to suit individual learning styles. Over the years, my online tutoring has developed to allow me to quickly hone in on the key areas that are specific to the young people I work with, speeding up progress so that they are able to achieve the goals that might otherwise elude them if relying on traditional whole class school input alone. I've been a GCSE specialist and an intervention strategist for two decades. I am also an experienced marker for the AQA exam board.

Tutoring Approach

Whilst I specialise in tutoring GCSE for Y10 and Y11 students targeting their exams, I also enjoy nurturing a love of the subject with younger students who need their confidence boosted and their love of reading and writing ignited.
All activities are designed to provide students with an easy to grasp rationale, no matter which particular skill set is the focus. Time and again this has boosted student self-esteem whilst allowing them to understand exactly what is required of them for every single component of their GCSE exam.
Misconceptions are addressed and dispelled and 20+ years of GCSE teaching experience has allowed me to build up a bank of tried and tested activities that are guaranteed to result in logical, memorable steps towards success.
All tasks will be given precise and thorough feedback, with homework given as required.
