I studied aerospace engineering at university and qualified as a teacher in 2007. More recently I have become an examiner of GCSE maths.

As well as maths I enjoy programming, in particular web development, and have created a number of websites from for myself or others.

In my free time I enjoy cycling, water sports and racket sports.

Tutoring Experience

I have more than 10 years classroom experience, in the UK and abroad. My main subject is maths but I have also taught ICT (to colleagues as well as students).

I have taught students of all secondary ages and abilities, including those who are Gifted or Talented and those who have Special Educational Needs. All of the students that I have taught so far in my career, including some particularly weak ones, have passed.

I have taught a range of curricula including A level, IB, GCSE and KS3.

Tutoring Approach

When teaching online, I make use a range of resources including the online whiteboard, web apps, a physical whiteboard, pen/pencil and paper. I have access to a tablet for use with the online whiteboard and an HD document camera for demonstrations using my physical whiteboard or pen and paper.

With maths in particular, it is important to practise what you have learned on a regular basis so as not to forget it when you learn a new concept. However, it is also important not to be overworked or to let other subjects slip. I am happy to provide my students with an exercise a day to complete between tuition sessions. These exercises are optional and last no more than 15 minutes... although if you want more, I can provide that.
