I am a qualified & experienced Secondary School Teacher (PGCE) with an English with Drama Specialism. I have over 7 years of experience working within the Secondary education sector within the UK and Nigeria. I have taught a range of subjects including English, Drama & English as a 2nd language (ESL), as well as mentored and differentiated curriculums for students with special educational needs and social, emotional mental health needs.

My other interests includes directing, fiction/screenwriting, theatre/screen/voice acting & cooking.

Tutoring Experience

My other experiences ranges from conducting theatre drama workshops in South Africa, IGCSE teaching experience, producing and writing several short films, combined with the professional training studies through the Seven Kings Alliance, successfully completing my Newly Qualified Teaching year, effectively fulfilling my duties as a KS3 pastoral form tutor and being the deputy head of the Drama department (2019-2021).

All these experiences have solidified my subject knowledge as a Drama practitioner in theatre and the media sector. Thus, I believe I can pass on skillful subject knowledge beyond the national curriculum.

Tutoring Approach

For your child I will ensure planning and resources are current and appropriate.

For instance, one of my key responsibilities as the Deputy head of the Drama department was to research and write new curriculums , ensuring differentiation for more vulnerable students as well as guiding my year 10 & 11 (GCSE) classes via personalised revision interventions through a very turbulent year as the result of a global pandemic which increased my insight and interest into online education, where I quickly adapted physical lessons into online interactive sessions using varied means such as quizzes, videos containing warm up exercises, music, online plays and games to engage students. Despite the disruption of Covid, the intake of year 9 students to study Drama as their GCSE had increased. 

I follow a flexible lesson sequence: CPR

Creating: knowledge of ways to approach the stimulus.
Performance: application of physical and vocal skills.
Responding: Ways to justify understanding of dramatic style to communicate meaning (theoretically)

This has proven to be a useful template in structuring effective lessons intertwined with my experience in teaching English as I am able to support KS3 & KS4 (GCSE) Drama students in achieving their potential both practically and theoretically within the Drama curriculum

Apart from lesson planning, rapport is a strength that I value. I have worked hard to ensure that I constantly built relationships with each one of my students and parents/guardians.

I am driven to support every pupil I teach, the knowledge, confidence and enthusiasm needed to achieve dynamic verbal and physical skills that Drama offers and those who specialise in Drama, the opportunity to excel their potential.
