I’m a passionate and approachable maths teacher with 22 years of teaching experience in the UK and abroad, including 12 years in a grammar school. I love helping students turn “I don’t get it” into “Now I understand!” moments by building their confidence and breaking down tricky topics into simple, manageable steps. In addition to teaching, I’m also an experienced GCSE examiner, which gives me valuable insight into what examiners look for and the most effective exam techniques. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a student’s confidence grow as things start to click, and I always strive to make maths feel approachable, achievable, and even enjoyable in a calm, supportive setting.
As Deputy Head of the Maths Faculty in my current school, I support high-quality teaching and learning across the department. Alongside my classroom role, I have extensive experience tutoring both Key Stage 3 and GCSE Maths. I specialise in building students’ confidence over time, helping them develop strong foundations for long-term success. Whether it’s closing gaps, deepening understanding, or preparing for exams, I tailor my approach to each student’s needs — supporting them to achieve, and often exceed, their target grades, including grade 9s at GCSE.
I focus on making maths clear, personalised, and confidence-building. By adapting each session to suit the student’s needs and learning style, I help them tackle challenges step by step and build lasting understanding. My sessions are supportive, and always focused on helping students feel more confident and in control of their learning.
