Hi, I'm TJ. I am a qualified Latin and Classics teacher, offering tuition in Latin to years 5-13 and Classical Civilisation to GCSE and A-Level. I would happily take adult learners as well. I graduated from Durham in 2019 with a First and went to work at Bishopsgate School, first as a Learning Support Assistant, and then as a Latin teacher. I then did my PGCE in Latin with Classics at the University of Cambridge. I have taught at Reading Blue Coat School for the last two years, as well as being Assistant Head of Year 13. I have recently completed an MPhil in Classics at Jesus College, Cambridge, specialising in ancient religion.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that tutoring should be a dialogue between the pupil and tutor, tailored to the former's needs in order to help them achieve their maximum potential. My experience in Learning Support means that I have a heightened awareness of the different barriers to learning that students may experience, and how best to empower the students to overcome them. My lessons are fun and dynamic, marked by a rigorous approach to the subject matter and lively conversation. The goal is that the student will come to share my love of the subject and develop their own abilities to achieve their targets.
