Hi there... I'm Tom

With regard to myself, I feel that I have a very broad and rich life experience which helps me as a teacher. I work well in a team environment being able to relate well to a wide range of people, having good extremely good interpersonal and communication skills. I am reliable, professional, highly adaptable and versatile, self-motivated and committed to lifelong learning. I have considerable experience of speaking and presentation work within the context of various charity groups. I enjoy playing tennis and I am a qualified LTA Level 2 tennis coach assistant.

Tutoring Experience

Teaching experience

I have a wide range of teaching experience in a number of different environments including the mainstream secondary school, charity and further education sectors. I have experience of teaching and tutoring adults as well as young people. Initially I worked previously as a Humanities/Philosophy and Ethics teacher teaching 11-19 year olds, and a part-time school supply teacher.

In recent years, I have taught ESOL/Englishliteracy to both 16–19 yr olds and adults. I have also experience of delivering IELTS English in the charity and university sectors. In addition to my teaching experience in the UK, I have considerable experience of teaching overseas. I previously taught English as a foreign language privately and in primary schools over five years whilst working overseas in Albania. I speak fluent Albanian and have worked as a sessional interpreter with refugees and asylum seekers.

I have an extremely approachable and friendly manner and am able to to relate to a wide spectrum of ages and ability levels. I use creative ways of teaching and engaging learners.
