Tim's Feedback

Tim is an outstanding tutor and teacher, who has helped me secure an A* in Physics which for me was almost unthinkable at the start of Year 13.

The topics covered in each lesson depend entirely on what the student would like to focus on and Tim will teach you the knowledge required from the course (whether it be OCR, AQA, Edexcel, etc) and he has a fantastic range of questions for each topic, which I found very useful. This was particularly helpful to me closer to the exams as it served as an excellent revision workspace.
In addition to this, Tim did not hesitate to give me that extra bit of knowledge in both physics and maths (which may be beyond the course but still within my reach) which was essential for doing well in the Physics Olympiad, the PAT (the Oxford admissions test) and in making connections between different topics which I value enormously as a student.

Tim did not only help me on the academic side, but also helped me very much in my university applications, especially since I was new to the process. He read and re-read my personal statement, made corrections, helped me with choosing universities and he prepared me for the university interviews and tests with resources useful for Oxbridge admissions.

One of the reasons why he is so helpful is because he has always been ready to respond to me by email: whenever I had a burning question about anything he would get back to me in a matter of minutes, even at midnight (which happened more than once)!

I am grateful to Tim for having exposed me to his approach to physics and maths, which is an open style of thinking and he puts emphasis on the holistic understanding of a topic. This has allowed me to get into Oxford and also feel ready for university. Thank you Tim!

Tim is currently tutoring my daughter for A Level Maths & Physics. Finding the right 'fit' for my daughter has been a bit hit & miss so, very thankful that we found Tim. Feedback from Dan: Cannot recommend Tim enough. Each hour with him worth five of school, if not more, as he knows considerably more than my teachers, and always manages to explain things in a way that makes sense and you don't have to work to remember. He goes above and beyond in giving you the best tutoring possible, even sending you content outside of the lesson hour. Couldn't have asked for a better tutor.

Tim worked for a full academic year tutoring my son on his mathematics. After initial working sessions he quickly confirmed his capabilities as a A' grade student. My son needed his confidence building and with these regular maths tutor sessions as well as assistance on areas of maths he found more difficult. I am pleased to report my son achieved his A grade. In fact I am sure if I had engaged Tim's services sooner this could have been an A* therefore I would not hesitate to recommend Tims' tutor services.

I had the privilege of working with Tim for just over a year, and the impact he made on my grades has been nothing short of transformative. From struggling in class with D/E grades, Tim lifted my grades to B's and even A's!

From the very start, Tim's warmth, understanding and compassion changed my attitude to Physics, as in school I initially never wanted to go into lessons, but I always looked forward to coming home to Tim, and soon I even began to enjoy my time in school. He guided me through an entire A Levels worth of content in just a year, all the while making everything interesting, exciting and easy to understand. Without a doubt, being the key reason to my success.

Tim and I went through each topic of the A Level Physics syllabus, all the while laying foundations and understanding and completing exam questions which were previously IMPOSSIBLE for me. We used a whiteboard system, which allowed the lessons to be interactive, and meant that I was always engaged.

What an amazing guy, I owe a lot of credit to Tim for getting me into my ideal university!

We found Tim with around seven months to the start of A Levels. Our daughter was struggling with her maths as her school teacher had left and the replacement was poor. Tim helped our her turn the corner with both her maths and physics preparations. He helped her think differently about questions and got her ahead in her preparations. She got an A and a B at A Level. Can't recommend Tim highly enough.

My son has been tutored by Tim in A level Physics and Further Maths for the past 2 years and has just taken his A level exams so we don't yet know the results. However, regardless of the results which my son obtains, I can say that the quality of Tim's tuition has been absolutely first class! Tim is professional but friendly and achieved a good rapport with my son who always looked forward to Tim's sessions. Tim really helped to increase my son's confidence in both subjects with the end result that my son also achieved a very high level of understanding in both subjects. Excellent tutor!

A tutor that really knew how to stretch and challenge an able student all the way to an A star result. My daughter found the sessions engaging and interesting. Communication about dates and payment with me, as a parent, was clear, in good time and fair. Would highly recommend.

Tim has been an excellent tutor for my son whilst he was preparing for his A levels. He needed some help with further maths at the last minute and Tim was able to squeeze some time in to support him. He was always on time and flexible in order to tackle any topic that my soon needed help with on the day. My son really enjoyed his lessons. He was also able to alternate with physics to take him through a few physics topics.

I would recommend Tim straight away to anybody who needs a maths tutor. I don’t know how I would’ve got through my A Level without him! Because of Covid I only did tutoring online but this didn’t effect the lessons at all as he has and endless amount of online resources and the online whiteboard means there is no problem with going through problems.

The issue with some tutors is that they don’t know how to clearly and simply explain something complicated. But Tim had always been able to explain and work through my question in a way that I will understand it and was happy to repeat it as many times as I needed.

I was always challenged by being given difficult questions and then being able to work through them with and without, in turn making me much more confident working through problems on my own.

I was looking for a tutor for my 17 year old son with whom my son can easily relate to. Tim fulfilled my requirement 100%. He initially started teaching Physics and then later Mathematics as well. Tim was not only just the tutor but he was a mentor as well to my son. All throughout his A levels, my son received excellent tutoring as well as the guidance required for applying to the apt Universities. Tim is very professional as a tutor. He optimised the use of technology during the difficult pandemic period, due to which my son received uninterrupted support during the lockdown period last year. Tim has in depth knowledge of the subjects he teaches, he understood my sons requirements and his tutoring sessions were very engaging for my son . He always provided multiple ways of solving the problems which widens the student's perspective. Many thanks Tim for your efforts and support.

Sam enjoyed his sessions with Tim. He said that the thing he found most useful was that Tim added context to the subject matter which greatly improved his understanding of it. Tim improved Sam’s confidence which in turn enabled him to give his best. I don’t hesitate to recommend Tim.

Tim has tutored my daughter in A-level maths / further maths for most of the past year. By way of comments, I note that:
Firstly, Tim has been completely reliable. Even when the pandemic forced a switch from face-to-face to online teaching, Tim helped us manage the transition seamlessly.
Secondly, my daughter has greatly enjoyed Tim's tutorials. She was always keen on maths, but found some of the A-level teaching at her school confusing. Tim was able to coach her through the application of different parts of the maths syllabus in a way she could understand, and as a result she is more confident about her maths ability again.

Enthusiastic and excellent at breaking down content for clearer explanations .Tim has been particularly helpful not only in making me understand the content for my Physics A level but has also given me the motivation I need.

Tim, is a really excellent tutor and I highly recommend him. Sometimes even very bright children lack confidence and can be thrown of course by an unexpected poorer test result. Tim was superb at encouraging and boosting our son's confidence in both Further Maths and Physics A-level and got him back on track. Young himself, he is very good at communicating and motivating teenagers and our son really enjoyed the sessions. He told us he explains things very clearly and can approach problems from different angles to ensure you really understand. Unfortunately, this summer many young people without the structure of school may lose motivation and focus - I think Tim would be very good at carrying learning on outside the classroom - especially with subjects like Maths and Further Maths where continuing to practice and keep up to date over the break will be vital, enabling learners to restart their courses from the best possible position, whether bridging the gap from unfinished GCSE's onto A -level or continuing on to second year of A-levels after the missing third of first year.
Tim is also very good at keeping concerned parents in the loop - especially helpful when teenagers themselves often prefer not to discuss work with parents! I think his fees are extremely reasonable and worth every penny. We were very fortunate to pick him from the list of tutors.

My daughter, Grace, was keen to get additional help with her A level Maths and Further Maths now she is in Year 13 (crunch time) and we choose Tim to provide this after much deliberation. We are incredibly pleased with how it is working out. Tim's passion for the subject shines through and this rubs off on my daughter. She loved the subject anyway but the rigours of A level teaching at the state school she attends was challenging her love for it - Tim has reinstated this love for Maths. His easy-going manner immediately made Grace feel relaxed and this is just what she needs in order to learn effectively - she doesn't learn well if we she feels on edge or under pressure. His knowledge of and qualifications in the subject are incredibly impressive and this has led to immediate respect for him from Grace. She felt a bit intimidated by his qualifications before meeting him but this disappeared within two minutes of them starting to talk face-to-face. His teaching style means she is quickly getting her head around previously troublesome topics. So, an incredibly positive experience overall. Proof of the pudding will of course be in the A levels in the summer but we feel we are moving in a very positive direction now with Tim on-board.

My son was struggling with his Maths and Physics A Level course and Tim turned up just in time. He not only helped him to understand concepts of the course, he also taught him how to approach exam questions and how to answer them. He made a massive difference to his confidence during exam season. Thanks Tim.

I only had a few months before my exams started but the help you gave me in that time made a huge difference and made me feel much more confident with my subjects, especially in Further Maths. I felt like I was able to ask any question and get a clear answer and if I didn't understand something, you could explain it in a slightly different way. We went through topics at quite a fast pace but I think this was beneficial considering the amount of time I had before the exams. One thing I particularly noticed was that, when introducing new equations and concepts, you would always derive and explain the equations first before trying to apply them to questions. You were also willing to discuss and explain things in more detail rather than just sticking to what I needed to know for the course.
