I am a passionate maths and stats teacher with a PhD in statistics and my ultimate goal is to afford students an environment such that they can understand concepts difficult to them.
I have been lecturing undergraduate students for the past 5 years, an experience that I find extremely rewarding and exciting. I have taught several courses such as calculus, linear algebra, probability, statistics. At the same time I taught students of all ages from KS3 to GCSE. I have a Qualified Teacher Status and a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP). Furthermore, I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Aademy (HEA).
My approach to tutoring is to recognise threshold concepts that trouble my students the most; I tackle them by explaining the issues I know are likely to be hard for students to comprehend and encouraging them to explain concepts in their own words. My ultimate goal is to afford my students an environment in which they find comfortable and in which they like to learn.
