Hello! My name is Thea and I'm a 24-year-old English BA and Radio MA graduate. I really enjoy reading and discussing novels which is my main reason for wanting to provide you with tuition. Literature has played such a key role in my life so far and I would like to help anyone who struggles to make literary inferences in class or just feels as though they need a bit of extra help. The main reason I like English is that it allows one to creatively construct niche and interesting arguments, as long as they are backed up by sufficient evidence, unlike some other subjects where there is one "correct answer". I hope to utilise my fun-loving and bubbly attitude to show you why English is also such a great subject and, very importantly, help to achieve the highest possible grades.

I have coached five separate students in the past, in ks3 English from year 7 to GCSE level.

Tutoring Approach

I think that the key to successful tutoring is to tailor the style of teaching to each individual student. By gauging the way in which one learns I am then able to cater for their needs in the tutor session by tailoring it specifically to then. For example, if a student was a visual leaner who is struggling to get to grips with Shakespeare I would provide visual aids to help them understand the meaning and themes in the play. My approach to tutoring is also to make it as fun as possible; I am a firm believer that an easy way to improve in a subject is to gain a passion for that subject. I try to ignite this passion through using fun, informative activities which give students a genuine love for the subject and ultimately will drive them to improve in it.
